LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1, 2001 – Vuepoint, an eLearning software and services company that matches speed to knowledge with speed to market, today announces from the OnLine Learning 2001 Conference that influential analyst group brandon-hall.com has named Vuepoint’s newly released VLS 3.0 to four short lists, including Best Overall Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS), in the recently published report “Learning Content Management Systems: Comparative Analysis of Systems Used to Construct, Organize and Reuse ‘Learning Objects’.”
The report analyzes and compares the 29 LCMS offerings that comprise the foundation of this new and growing trend. These systems break content down into manageable, reusable chunks called “learning objects” that can be delivered across multiple platforms for easy distribution of content. Vuepoint was one of eight systems named best overall.
“As the convergence of knowledge management and traditional eLearning, LCMS is rightly becoming one of the most important developments within eLearning and corporate training. Vuepoint was recognized for its completeness in creating, organizing, re-using, and delivering ‘learning object’ content across the enterprise,” said the report’s primary researcher Bryan Chapman, brandon-hall.com senior analyst and a regular technology columnist for Online Learning Magazine. “Systems like Vuepoint’s will add value to those companies who want to move from manual course development to an eLearning publishing model,” he said.
The LCMS report also names Vuepoint, which helps customers create courses based on proprietary knowledge, to short lists for Most Flexible and Extensive Content Offering, Most Dynamic Content Delivery Engine, and Best Integrated Software Simulation Tools. VLS 3.0 offers users easy and rapid content authoring, dynamic pre-testing functionality, strong collaborative capabilities, and easy integration due to the organic development of the system.
In addition to an LCMS, Vuepoint’s single platform also offers a learning management system (LMS). Earlier this year, brandon-hall.com also short listed the company in its “Learning Management Systems 2001: How to Choose the Right System for Your Organization,” making Vuepoint one of only four systems selected for the short list in both reports. The analysts lauded Vuepoint’s product for its pre-testing capability and “road map” for personalized learning, synchronous learning tools, offline viewer for downloading material and uploading scores, as well as its sophisticated content authoring tool.
“I’m very proud that VLS has been recognized by Brandon Hall as superior in both LCMS and LMS,” said Ara Ohanian, CEO of Vuepoint. “These reports emphasize what our customers already know: They don’t have to buy both systems, or choose one over the other, because our comprehensive product offers fast and easy creation and delivery of customized, proprietary content in one package.”
